Asset College Proudly Partners With Soldier On

A number of ASSET’s staff and students have or are continuing to proudly represent our country in a number of ways. Our partnership with Soldier On is a testament to this support, offering current and ex-defence members a seamless pathway to civilian life through education and employment support.

We are delighted to announce that we are now a Soldier On Gold Pledge Partner.

Asset College has signed the Soldier On Pledge to demonstrate our commitment to being a veteran-supportive workplace.

You too can become a pledge partner or learn more here.

Soldier On is a not for profit, non-political charitable entity established with the purpose of supporting the health and well being of ex-defence force members, and their families.

Soldier On recognise that the ADF and greater National Security Community have worked side by side and also offer their support to Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other security agencies.

Asset College is proud to partner with and support Soldier On. Established in 2006 by Mark Costello, a former Australian Defence Forces member having served previously in the Australia Army, ASSET offers over 50 different qualifications suitable for job seekers, career transitions, career development/progression and personal interest.

ASSET recognises the knowledge and skills developed by Defence members during their service and the value of these skills to the broader public and private sector employers; as well as the positive mental health and other benefits for members that achieve a successful transition from Defence to other employment.

ASSET offers training/assessment and recognition of prior learning to current and former Defence members as well as employment support through our extensive networks.

At some point in your career you will transition out of the ADF and back into civilian life. Whether you are thinking about your own transition, supporting someone (family member, friend, commanding officer and supervisor) or you’re just after some advice – Asset College in partnership with Soldier On may be able to assist with recognising your skills and help transition these post defence.

Asset College through our partnership with Soldier On, offer past and current Defence members (including members of Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other security agencies), a range of special offers and support services.

These include:

  • 10% off all short courses and Certificate qualifications (excluding government funded training). Does not apply to firearms courses.
  • 20% off all Certificate IV and above qualifications (excluding government funded training).
  • Team dedicated to assessing your defence qualifications through our RPL process including 20% off RPL services.
  • Employer Connection Events

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an assessment pathway offered by Registered Training Organisations such as Asset College for individuals to gain a nationally recognised qualification.

Generally, to achieve a qualification you would undertake a training program followed by an assessment process. The RPL pathway is a substitute for the standard assessment process for individuals who have gained the same knowledge and skills through their experience rather than through a training program. This process recognises that experience can be as valuable as undertaking training. For example, you may have practical experience managing a unit of defence personnel, but no formal qualification in management. Through the RPL process, you could be awarded a Diploma of Leadership & Management.

We understand that people acquire knowledge and skills from other training programs (both accredited and non-accredited), employment within various industries as well as participation in voluntary, social and recreational activities. By documenting and assessing this experience (or prior knowledge), our assessors may be able to align this experience to competencies in the Australian Qualifications Framework.

In cases where an applicant can supply evidence that aligns completely with the requirements of the unit or qualification applied for, Asset College can issue the relevant Qualification or Statement of Attainment without the candidate requiring further training/assessment.
