“Most positive aspect of my year!”

Leanne didn’t expect her career to take such a turn when COVID19 hit Brisbane earlier this year. Prior to contacting Asset College, Leanne had worked in the airlines for 15 years!

With the changes to the airline industry, Leanne determined it was time to gain some extra skills and broaden her opportunities in the workforce.

A former student of ASSET’s had referred Leanne to the college after completing security training himself. Leanne got in contact with Rebecca Cuneo and was booked in for our free career information session.

Leanne attended our Spring Hill office to complete her training.

“Training was great. I had heard from my friend what a great trainer Lynn was, and he right. From day one she was very clear about the industry and had so many great stories from her previous experience. I felt very comfortable with her training style.”

After completing her training with Lynn, Leanne signed up for ASSET’s pre-employment screening with Rebecca. After attending, Rebecca contacted Leanne about a position that she thought Leanne would be very suited to.

“It was a very quick turnaround from phone interview to starting my first shift in a Gatehouse Security Officer Position. When it was confirmed that I was successful for the position I had 11 shifts immediately to start with. This was all within 24 hours of Rebecca calling me!”

Leanne says she is really enjoying her new role.

“The guards that I work with have been fabulous. The whole company is very supportive and are willing to support me, knowing that I am green!”

Leanne says that anyone considering a career in security should just give it a shot.

“Oh wow, you don’t know what it is like until you try it! There is so much more to security than meets the eye. If you can communicate effectively you always have something to offer in the security industry!”
