Find Your Career Passion With These 6 Tips

Everyone has a passion or two. So, passions have to mean something, right?

Well, being able to identify your life meaning is effective, because following a passion can make your life successful and meaningful. However, to discover your passion is to do plenty of soul searching, which might not be easy for everyone.

So, if you’re feeling stuck on what you want to do in life, then look to these 6 tips that can help you discover your passion.

1.  Have The Right Perspective

When it comes to finding your passion, you’re not going to find it in a place where you dislike everything there. You also won’t find it, if you’re not open to possibilities.

“Little nudges, pulls, and signals are what guides us all in life,” says Jesus Lawson, a writer at Paperfellows and Stateofwriting. “In other words, if you open yourself up to possibilities, then they can lead you to your true passions in life. One of the best ways to do this is to talk to people who find themselves happy with what they’re doing. Then from there, you can adopt the perspective that you can do what you love to do.”

Consider how many of your friends and family are following their passions right now. If you can’t think of a friend or family member, then expand your circle to find out what kinds of people are inspired by their work.

2. Jot Down A List Of “Passions”

This should be the fun part. You get to create a list of things that you love doing – these will be your “passions.” Whether you look to your childhood to figure out your passions, or reflect on your recent ventures that you loved doing, chances are, you can transform some of these passions into full-time careers.

3. Jot Down Things You Don’t Like Doing

Another fun list to make is jotting down the things that you don’t like doing in your life.

For example, you might have had a negative experience at a job like retail. So, you won’t automatically put that on the list. As you add more “undesirables” to the list, you’ll find it easier to identify what you like doing.

4. Determine Which “Passions” Are Profitable

Once you have a list of “passions,” it’s time to see which one(s) that you can actually profit off of, or at least get you further in life with plenty of experience to show for it.

So, if you want to contribute your passion to society and make money from it, then it’s time to be more realistic about it. But keep in mind: Not only should this passion be profitable, but it should be something that you truly love doing. Transform it from a “love to do” to a “have to do.” And, if you’re extremely passion about it, then don’t be afraid to talk about it to people – who just might be your potential clients or customers.

5. Face Your Fears

“You’ll come across fears, as you seek your passion,” says Ellie Green, a business blogger at Academized and Oxessays. “At some point, you’ll begin to question yourself, as you proceed with a passion. And that’s normal. People will feel like they shouldn’t move forward at all, or simply test the waters only to quit later.”

So, what do these fears look like? And how should people address them?

“Fears may circle around failure, success, vulnerability, or just getting out there,” adds Green. “The best thing to do with these fears is to challenge them. Chances are, a lot of these fears stem from years of conditioning from parents, teachers, school, and so on. And, if you learn to see past these fears, you’ll be sure that you’re going in the right direction.”

6. Research, Train, And Practice

Ultimately, you’ll need to make sure that you have enough experience and knowledge on your selected passion. That means that you need to do as much research as possible on the subject, including:

  • Visiting relevant websites
  • Reading related books
  • Connecting with people who share that passion

Conclusion

Having a passion can be a great thing after all. Although you’ll have to do some soul searching to find that passion, it’s still possible to find it sooner than you’d think. And, with these 6 tips, you’ll be on your way to following your passion for many years to come.
